The big 5

Are you ready for a safari? Let's go!
-
Lion, elephant, rhino, leopard and buffalo - this is the group of the 5 most difficult animals to hunt. The origin of the list comes from hunters who chased and killed them for trophies in the 20th century. Fortunately, today they are known as the five most famous animals that every adventurer should see when going to a safari in Africa.

Lion
Lions live in groups of up to 40 animals called prides. They are the only big cats that live together. The prides are led by female lions who are responsible for hunting and providing food. The male lions defend the territory and chase away animals who try to steal the prey that the females caught. Although they're known as the kings of the jungle, they do not actually live there, but inhabit the African savannah.

Buffalo
The buffalo is the only species on this list which is NOT in danger of extinction. People have tried to domesticate the buffalo for ages but their efforts have not been successful. Despite its good-natured appearance, the buffalo is one of the most dangerous animals in Africa and kills over 200 people a year! Its weapon is its special horns, which are joined at the base forming a helmet for its head.

Leopard
The leopard is the most difficult animal to spot out of the 5. It is active mainly at night, and during the day it rests among the tall grass or on the branches of the trees. Its spotted golden coat makes it extremely difficult to distinguish the animal from the surrounding vegetation. Leopards are also very shy - they don't trust people and often run away if approached.

The black rhino is a large herbivore. Their skin is very sturdy, but like human skin it can burn under the scorching sun. Despite their clumsy appearance, rhinos are extremely agile and run on their toes developing speeds of up to 55 km / h. They live alone and, for example, in the Serengeti National Park, their territories can be as vast as 100 square kilometers.
